When a victim or survivor of abuse does not feel supported by those they know and love it creates forms of betrayal and loss. It can cause the victim or survivor to feel alone in what they are going through. They want their family, friends, and faith communities to be there for them. On the other hand, when victims and survivors are supported, they are more easily able to navigate difficult circumstances. We want to minimize obstacles in order to increase resilience.
